Heather Getzlaf Photography & Three little kittens designs

Where creative sewing, costume design, and fine art photography come together.

Hi, I’m Heather—photographer, digital artist, sewist, and creative mom—and this blog is where all of those worlds finally come together.

For years, my work has lived across different platforms: photography sessions, handmade dresses, creative edits, behind-the-scenes videos, and personal passion projects. This blog is my slower, more intentional space to document the process behind it all.

Here, I’ll be sharing my creative sewing projects and photography work from start to finish—from the moment an idea sparks, to designing and sewing a dress, to planning and photographing the final images.

This isn’t about perfection or mass production. It’s about creativity, storytelling, and making meaningful art with your hands.

What You Can Expect From This Blog

This blog will focus on individual creative projects, including:

  • Creative sewing projects and handmade dresses

  • Dress recreations inspired by dolls, fairytales, and classic designs

  • Behind-the-scenes looks at photoshoot planning and execution

  • Creative photography projects and fine art portraits

  • Process posts showing how ideas evolve over time

Some months may be sewing-heavy. Others may focus more on photography. And sometimes, life will guide the direction—and that’s part of the beauty of a creative practice.

How This Blog Connects to My YouTube Channel

Many of the projects you’ll see here will also be shared on my YouTube channel, where I document the process in video form.

Think of it like this:

  • YouTube shows the movement, making, and behind-the-scenes action

  • This blog goes deeper into the story, decisions, details, and final images

I’ll often link directly to related YouTube videos so you can choose how you want to experience the project—watch it unfold, read about it, or both.

How It Connects to My Photography & Handmade Dress Work

My photography business and handmade dress work (Three Little Kittens Designs) are deeply connected to my creative process.

Through this blog, you’ll see:

  • How my handmade dresses are designed specifically for photography

  • How sewing influences my posing, styling, and storytelling

  • How creative photography projects shape the kind of work I offer clients

If you’re a photographer, artist, or creative parent, you’ll get insight into how multiple creative disciplines can work together instead of competing for attention.

And if you simply love handmade pieces, storytelling, and thoughtful art—you’re in the right place.
